T.G.I.F

I am glad it is Friday. Even though it was a short week, it seems like a long week. I had so much to do at work, I am already planning how to prolong my 4th of July weekend. Well tonight I will kick my heels up at my sororities line dancing class. I need the exercise, been kinda lazy since getting married. I want to wish all of you a great weekend. Get some rest I plan on to.

My Tattoo

I talked about in a previous post about wanting a tattoo. Well, I have not updated you since that post, but as a birthday gift to myself, I got one. Here it is....

This one was taken on my wedding day.

I think that it is so cute. It is not a really good picture. It is a butterfly. I am glad that I got before my wedding and that I have it for this summer. I think that it looks great with sandals. Not to big, not to small..it is just right.

Wedding Headpiece

I love my headpiece that I wore for my wedding. I made the flower and feather part and purchased the birdcage veil at Wendy's Bridal. The flower I purchased at an after Christmas sale, so it ended up being $.50. Then I purchased the comb and the feathers at Jo-Ann fabrics. I used a 40% off coupon to purchase the feathers which made it $.50 and the found the comb on the clearance rack for $.50. I used my trusty hot glue gun to secure everything together.

I tried to make my birdcage veil, but it was not turning out how I wanted it to. Two days before my wedding I went to pick up our wedding rings and there was a Wendy's Bridal next door to it. I just went in to see what they had. One of the store clerks was very helpful in showing me what they had. When she was pulling them off of the rack, she notice that one of them was tangled up in the another tiara. She tried to get it untangled. She said that she would be right back. While she came back, I continued to look, but did not want to pay that type of money for them. She returned and stated to me,"If you and I can get this untangled, my supervisor said that you could have it for 80% off." You know what I did, I sat there and got it untangled. It was one of the best ways I have spent 15 minutes in my life. I love my birdcage veil, really trying to find some where else to wear it, and think that it really worked well with my dress and the look that I wanted on my wedding day.

Ms. Linnyette

I was so excited when I was looking another brides blog, I guess I really am not a bride anymore, well anyway I came across the blog of one of the wedding planners that I love to watch on "Who's Wedding is it Anyway?" that comes on the Style network. The planners name is Linnyette Richardson-Hall. On the show she has done some amazing things with the high and low budgets. I can not wait to see what she creates this season (and yes I am still going to be watching the show, even though I am now married). Follow the link to check out her blog http://confessionsoftheweddingdiva.blogspot.com/ .

Let The Grooms Eat Cake

I got my groom a special cake just for him. It really reflected him. He loves his tools and is quite handy. Lots of my guest were impressed with the cake. Not only did it look good, it tasted good. It was made of red velvet cake and it had butter cream icing under the fondant. I was impressed that I got a piece of the cake since when I brought the sample cake home, I did not get any.
(before at the wedding reception)

The baker that make the cake, added a little personal touch to the cake, by adding my grooms initials to the top of the tool box.
(after)

As you can tell he really enjoyed the cake. He liked the cake so much that he wanted to save the tools once the cake was gone (I told you he likes his tools). I had to remind him that they were not really Craftsmen tools, but fondant molds. I am happy that he enjoyed the cake and that it added an extra "WOW" factor at our reception. I think that he really appreciated the extra little touch just for him.

Are you doing a groom's cake? If so, why or why not?

Kinda catchy since I have just got done Jumping the Broom. Click here to get to my new blog. Be patient with me I am still getting the style of the blog down, but I have already started blogging there. I will still be blogging here for a while also to wrap up wedding stuff and maybe talk about new wedding stuff. Hope to see you at my new address.

1 Month

It has been a whole month and I have to say it does feel different. I know my husband has been using the word wife alot lately to get assistance with things that I do not want to really do. I guess it comes with the total package of being a wife. Compromise, even when you do not want to do something.

Happy Mother's Day

Sharing time with your mother is always a special time. That time is even more special in preparing for a wedding. Even though some of my wedding day is a blur..I do remember the time spent planning my wedding and the day of with my mom. I will remember that time always. It will always be special to me. Happy Mother's Day, Mom and to all the mom's out there.

Trash the Dress

Now the wedding is over..I am now planning with my photographer my "Trash the Dress" session. These session originally took place with brides jumping in to bodies of water. Granted that these made for some pretty pictures, but I am not willing to ruin my wedding dress. I am looking at what people are now calling an "Urban" trash the dress session. Below are some photos of an urban session. To find out more about trashing the dress, click here.
The image to the right is from fellow blogger bride Heather, when she had her trash the dress session. Click here to see her trash the dress session.

DIY: Wedding Programs

Here are my wedding programs. They were easy to make , but I will admit that they were a little time consuming. Thank goodness my matron of honor came over the Thursday before my wedding to assist me in putting them together.I think all the time and care that went into them made them totally perfect. I have had several people tell me that they were beautiful and different.

The program consisted of 6 pages. The pages were as follows:
  • cover
  • order of service
  • pages 3-4 had a listing of persons participating in the wedding
  • menu for the evening
  • our thank you's

I used english and copperlight gothic fonts for the program. I printed them off on my printer and then took them to Staples to have them cut. I tried to do it myself, but I though that there were to many pages and that would add more time to the assembly process. The template that I used I was able to print two of the programs on the same page.

The back cover of the program, I used an aqua colored hard stock. the back cover was cut longer than the other pages so that it could be folded over on the front at the top. Once the back cover was folded, we used a two hole punch and punched holes through all of the pages. I then took the ribbon that I used for the coloring books, since I had so much of it, and thread a piece through and tied it in a double knot. I think that they turn out so beautiful. I am really proud of them.

Can Not Wait

We have be getting pictures from friends and family that have attended the wedding, but today..we finally get to see our professional photos. I can not wait to see them. I love her work..I just hope there are enough of them and there aren't any photos that I wish I had. I know that Sara did a wonderful job. Then we will have another decision..which ones to get and what sizes to get them in. Even when the wedding is over, you still have decisions to make.

Create A Dress

The toilet paper wedding is always a crowd favorite at any bridal shower. At mine it was not except. It was funny watching the teams compete to make the perfect dress. Each team had their own style and technique on designing their wedding dress.

(A)
(B)
The teams worked very hard on the dress. The only thing I did not like about the game is he waste of all that toilet paper. Hey, that stuff is expensive and we do not need anything else in our landfills. Neither dress looked like something that I would wear, but had to choose one. Out of above pictures of the finish products...which team do you think won? A or B? I will let you know who I picked next Friday.
