Seeing Red

Larazo

James Clifford Black Label

With the holidays around the corner, the color red is a big part of the season. If picking out bridesmaids dresses or a holiday party dress the dresses above show different options in a short dress. Heck, if you pick one of these dresses for your bridesmaids, they will definately be able to wear it again and you just won't be saying that.

My Trashing of the Dress

I did not really trash my dress....but I really had a great time on Sunday working with my photographer Sarah in my "trash the dress" photo shoot. You know wearing a bridal gown definitely gets you noticed. I had several on lookers honking their car horns and yelling congratulations as we walked around looking at locations...little did they know I have been married for two months now. I even had a homeless person ask me where my groom was and if I needed a ride since I was walking around in my wedding dress with a bag on my shoulder. It was nice to get noticed..I really felt like a supermodel or something. We took pictures in an artsy part of town and alot of the vendors were real nice in allowing us to shoot some photos in their stores. I can not wait to see some the photos, we took some of me in middle of the street with the downtown skyline as a back drop, on a fire escape, working on a car (my husband is going to laugh at that) and on a bright orange Vespa motor scooter. One of the photos that I can not wait to see is the one with all of my bridesmaids shoes since they were all different ( I did alot of driving around town to gather all the shoes from my bridesmaids for the shoot). Sarah and I had so much fun, it was really enjoyable and lot different from when I took pictures after the wedding. I will post some photos when I get them in ...... 6 weeks ( I hope it is sooner).

Create A Dress

The toilet paper wedding is always a crowd favorite at any bridal shower. At mine it was not except. It was funny watching the teams compete to make the perfect dress. Each team had their own style and technique on designing their wedding dress.

(A)
(B)
The teams worked very hard on the dress. The only thing I did not like about the game is he waste of all that toilet paper. Hey, that stuff is expensive and we do not need anything else in our landfills. Neither dress looked like something that I would wear, but had to choose one. Out of above pictures of the finish products...which team do you think won? A or B? I will let you know who I picked next Friday.

Breast vs. Mom

Well, I went to my second dress fitting on this past Friday. The dress fit really well everywhere but at the top. I could tell by the look on my mom face that she was not pleased. Yes, a small portion of my breast were showing, but I at times like "the girls" to show a bit. The dress did need to be a little more fitted at the top, since I was pulling it up a little and I would hate to spend the whole night pulling my dress up especially when I am doing the "Casper Slide". The seamstress did hear my mom's pleas and asked if I could come back on Saturday to try the dress on again. Round one....the breast

When I was getting ready to go to my fitting, I get this call from my mom. She states," I have a solution for your dress. If it does not fit right today maybe we will add a strip of material at the top or add straps to it." The horror streaked across my face and I composed myself to say," I am not adding straps to my dress." A long pause occurred and then I heard, " We'll I will see you there." Round two....mom

Upon arrival to the seamstress, I saw that my mom had beat me there. I once again tried on the dress. Of course, before I go there my mom had already spoke to the seamstress about her ideas about the dress. Luckily the seamstress had an idea of her own. She add elastic to the inside of my dress so that top of my dress caresses "the girls", without showing them off. I jumped. I jiggled. I moved. " The girls" moved with me, without moving out of the dress. I appreciate the seamstress hard work and I hoped that she saw the gratitude on my face of her solution for my dress. I was happy when we walked out with my dress. Now all I have to do is get it cleaned. One more thing off of my list. YEAH!! Round three....the seamstress.

Wedding Dresses: Amsale

Amsale's career began when she was planning her own wedding and could not find a wedding dress for herself. She wanted something that was simple and refined and since she could not find it she made it. Thus began her career in bridal. Her gowns are simple with a stylish flare. They are not fussy, but are elegant. Her gowns make any bride timeless.

Wedding Dress: Angel Sanchez

Angel Sanchez is designer who is multi-tasking with a bridal line and a fashion line for women. When looking at his designs, I really enjoyed the variation of fabrics, the creation of new shapes and the different style patterns. These dresses are so flirty and sexy, and really look like you would have fun in them. These dress are definitely for the bride who is really comfortable with herself and wants to make a statement on her big day. Bigger is Not Always Better

Well I did it, I found my wedding dress. I thought that it was to early to find my dress, but I did and I even did the unthinkable I purchased it (thanks mom). How could I not buy the dress, it was only $250.00!!! I know totally unbelievable. I had decided that I really needed to find something that was within my budget and I really did not want to purchase a dress for over $1,000 that I was only going to wear once. Heck, I can buy those $500.00 designer shoes that I want for my wedding now.

In my journey, I found that I really enjoyed having the personal touch. When I went to some of the smaller bridal shops, I got the one on one attention that I think that every bride deserves. This is a big purchase. Not only are you buying a once in lifetime dress, but you are spending hundreds of dollars on it. It is a big decision. The shops that I have an excellent experience at were Weddings Gowns Etc. and Perfect Weddings Bridal. The larger bridal shops, I felt pressured to purchases a dress a dress with 2 weeks because of the shipping time. I totally understand that some bridal consultants work on commission, but dag stop with the dress threats of companies discontinuing styles and my dress getting stuck in customs. The family feel that I got from the small bridal shops, make me more comfortable trying on the dresses and asking questions about the dresses. The vibe there at the smaller bridal shops, made it alot easier to spend more money there as well.

All the pictures in this posting are all dresses that I like. Can you guess which one that I purchased?

I won't tell.... You have to guess!!

Did you figure it out yet?

Well, I guess that you will have to wait until next April when you see the pictures from the wedding. I guess I will have to wait also since, I did not keep it in my house and it is at my mothers. I will be loving it from a far. I guess I will be making many trips to my mom's house to touch it and try it on.

When looking for a wedding dress....please, please be comfortable in what you are going to wear. Make sure that it "you" and not what others think "you " looks like. I can not wait to wear my dress, 11 months and counting.
