Sea, Sun and Flipperz

Our first full day in Emerald Isle, N.C. for our honeymoon, we went to this restaurant named Flipperz. We were so tired from the drive the day before, we did not feel like cooking and but wanted to do a little exploring since we stayed in the condo and on the beach for most of the day. It was a great meal and one of our most expensive meal I think that we have ever had together, but what the hey...we were on our honeymoon. Since we near the ocean, of course we had seafood. I think that I had the best red snapper, I have ever had in life there. It was so fresh. The people there were so friendly and really made us feel welcome. If you ever in Emerald Isle, N.C. I highly recommend this restaurant.

N.C. Honeymoon

I have not talked about my honeymoon. Over the next few weeks I will share some of my honeymoon pictures with you. Since my husband does not fly, we had to go somewhere that we could drive to. We went to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It took us 11 hours to drive there.

The drive was good even through the all the rain in the hills of West Virginia. We did get a little lost on the way and had to stop a hardware store to ask for directions. Note to self.. always double check Mapquest and Yahoo Maps! with an AAA trip ticket when taking a road trip. Luckily the store clerks were helpful and had the Internet to get us back on the right track.

It was not a bad drive, it gave the hubby and I time to recap about the wedding and just spend time talking. I took a couple of cat naps along the way, when I was suppose to be navigating. We took our time getting there and stopped to see some sites on the way. I started to get cranky towards the end of the drive since I was sleepy and just wanted to go to bed.

I must say that this was a very budget friendly honeymoon. We stayed in a condo on the beach and brought some amenities from home including some food and lots of personal items. The condo had a deck with a swing on it and a good view of the beach. It was very relaxing, which we needed after the wedding. The town seemed to shut down around 11:00 pm...even the gas station. I am use to everything being 24 hours where I live. It was fine with us that everything closed early since we spent alot of time on the beach and sitting on our deck.

We definitely enjoyed our stay there and are planning on going back some day, maybe even for our 1st anniversary.

Wedding Post-Pardum

(Picture from the beach from my honeymoon)

Well, I am back from my lovely wedding and my relaxing honeymoon. Now that I am back...I am kinda like what am I to do now. My life for the last year and a half has been wedding planning. My husband, ha ha husband, stated that I am grieving, I think that I that he is right. Do not gt me wrong I am happy to be the new Mrs. J, but there is a sense of loss. To keep myself busy before I return to work is reorganize my house...oops, our home with all of the lovely gifts that we received from the wedding, but that gets boring after while. I am sure that I will busy with organizing for a while since I have not gotten all the stuff back from the wedding yet. My mom and a friend of mine has to still bring some things over for me to store. So brides...remember you store the stuff before the wedding and after the wedding.

I have had some ideas on what I can do after the wedding, which is wedding planning for others. I have had some many people come up to me at the wedding stating that there were so many unique ideas and things ran so smoothly. I have been wanting to do this for sometime, have a partner and a name for the company. I will update you more on that later.

The next few posting I will talk about my wedding and the honeymoon. Stay posted!!!!

N.C. Here We Come!!!

The honeymoon is booked. Hooray!!! I had a few requirement for my honeymoon, beach and water. My fiance had some as well...something that did not include a plane or a boat. I want to thank you all of my fellow bloggers that gave me some suggestions on places to go, it was quite helpful. We are going to Emerald Isle, North Carolina to stay in a condo on the beach for 5 days. You know the Internet is a wonderful, I found the rental agency that we are using there. It seems like a real place to just relax. The location that we are staying at states that it is just up the street from local shopping and restaurants. I am looking forward to just sitting on the beach with a book and my Ipod soaking up the sun and of course spending time with my husband (which he will be be on this trip). The best part of the whole trip is that is under $600.00 for the whole week. The broomjumpinggroom and I will have lots of bonding time in the car on our 11 hour, 11 minute trip across the states to our relaxing place.

Where in the World are D & C?

This is honeymoon planning part two. I would like to thank all of you out there who gave me suggestions for our no boat, no airplane honeymoon. I went to visit my local travel agent to get some more ideas for a our honeymoon since we needed to go by car. I spent an hour with her discussing some of the things that would like to do during our honeymoon and what we did not want to do during our honeymoon. After talking to her and looking over the literature that she gave me to review here are the front runners;

  • The Poconos

  • South Carolina (Newport Beach)

We are still reviewing books that she gave me so that I can go back and talk to her within a week or so. I really want to have this settled before the end of the month so that we can put a deposit on the trip and begin making payments on it. Even better the travel agent has a bridal registry that our guest who would like to pay on our trip for us instead of getting us a gift can. Does anyone else have any suggestions for a relaxing road trip?

Honey, We Are Not in Ohio Anymore.

Today I received the first , I sure, of many catalogs for my broomjumpinggroom and myself to look over to choose a place to go on for our honeymoon. The books that I received today were both from North Carolina for some of the beach house property in that area. I , well I guess it really is not just about me, have a couple stipulations for planning our honeymoon:

  • No planes, trains or maybe even not a boat. My broomjumpinggroom has never flown, thinks the train will derail and keeps quoting scenes from the "Titanic" when I mention a cruise. Shall we say he has some control issues and if he is not in control of the car he gets a little anxious.
  • The place needs to be within driving distance, but far enough away that no one knows us. I really do not care how far the drive is because I probably would not be driving for the whole 7 day trip anyway.
  • I like would some sand, sun and sea.
  • A place that I can enjoy some of the sites but also have room for us to relax.

We had considered several places like Las Vegas or New York, but I guess the point of the honeymoon is to spend time with my "husband". If I go to either one of these places, I would be in front of a nickle or quarter slot machine all day or shopping on 25th Ave in Manhattan trying to find newest designer purses. Places that we are currently considering are:

  • Virginia Beach
  • North Carolina (reason for the booklets)
  • South Carolina
  • Toronto, Canada (would have to obtain passports, another expense)
  • Florida ( anywhere but Orlando, since my broomjumpinggroom is not overjoyed with the thought of a two big mice coming towards him singing,"It's A Small, Small World".)

We need to make a decision by mid-July or the beginning of August so that we can contact the travel agent and make arrangements.

If you have any suggestions for places that this Midwest bride can go on her honeymoon, remember we will be driving, reply to this post or contact me.
