Jumping Timeline

Well, it has been hard to believe that it I have been engaged for a year. We got engaged last December 26. We have had quite a journey.

April 1997-- We started dating.

December 26, 2007-- We made it official. We got engaged.

December 26, 2008--We are less than 4 months away from our wedding.

April 11, 2009-- We become husband and wife.

It looks like we are about to come full circle. April and December seem to be our months. I can not wait to see what is in store for the future.

Engagement Pictures: Part IV

Go Sarah, Go Sarah. Thank you. Sarah is my photographer. I went to her house last night and picked up my engagement pictures. Sarah is wonderful photographer and really captured who the broomjumpinggroom and I are. Even though we were a little late to our session, she still got some great shots of us. I am really pleased with them and can not stop looking at them. I need to sort through them to see which one that I am going to use for our save the date cards that I want to order by the end of the month. Since I have just got them last evening, I have not selected the one or two that I am going to post. Give me a couple of days and I will get some up.

Engagement Pictures: Part III

We did it!!! We took our engagement pictures yesterday. It was not without a few hang ups. We were a little late and this time it was not my fault ( I tend to run on my own time) but the Broomjumpinggrooms'. We were suppose to meet the photographer at 7:00 pm and my fiance thought I said 7:30pm. We got dressed and rushed down there and made it by 7:25pm before the sun totally set. We took our pictures by this beautiful arch in the arena district of Columbus. The arch use to be an old train station. It was nice setting and I think that we will really have some good shots.
I wore a brown linen dress ( I know in the picture it looks like it is black) with the this necklace. I was going to wear some brown linen wedge sandals, but opted for my brown thong sandals that were flat. They were much more me since I love flip flops and I did not want our pictures to be to formal since we are casual people.

The Broomjumpinggroom wore this shirt. It is brown with olive, black and cream stripes. He wore it with a pair of jeans ( one of the pairs that I like on him) and his brown boots. It he wore anything else..it would not look at him.
I can not wait to see the proofs and select the picture for our save the date cards I am making for the wedding. We might have been a hard couple to work with since we kept cracking up at each other. I wonder if we will do that on our wedding day. I really appreciate Sarah taking time out to do this last minute photo shoot before she goes into labor. Did I say I was excited to see the photos?(smile). Well, one more thing off of the to do list.

Engagement Pictures:Part II

I am going to try it again. In a previous post I talked about how my photographer was pregnant and on bed rest. Well she is off of bed rest and ready to roll. So we are going to try to take our pictures later on today. We are going to the take the pictures in downtown Columbus. There is so many great places for us to take pictures. The only question is what to wear. I had bought a dress, but now I am not sure if I like. I will definitely have to pick out another outfit as a back up. I will post later how the shoot went. I hope that Mina (my photographers soon to be daughter) can hold off for just another 24 hours.

Engagement Pictures

We were suppose to take our engagement pictures today, but my wedding photographer is not able to do them as scheduled. It is not like she just did not skipped out on me, she has been put on bed rest since she is due any moment now with her first baby. She was going to try to do the shoot, but I really did not want her water breaking during our session. We have rescheduled for October, since I will still be able to take them outside since it still will be nice here. Fall will be in full swing in October also, so maybe we will have some beautiful foliage in our photographs. Even if I do not get to wear the summer dress I bought for the photos, it just gives me an excuse to purchase another outfit. I much rather go through all of this now instead of around my actual wedding day.

Red, White and Snooze

I am so tired and I do not know why since I took a nap today for 3 hours outside in our gazebo. The Broomjumpinggroom and I had our engagement party yesterday. It was sooooooo much fun!! Our friends really came out to celebrate our engagement, even though we have been engaged since December. Having fun comes at a price...my beauty rest. I did get 7 hours of sleep last night but I guess sitting outside in the beautiful sun (because we had great weather) and being the hostess with the "mostess" really wore me out. I really appreciate all of our friends bringing great food and drinks to help us celebrate. At times like this you really know who cares for you and who will journey with you in the next phase of your life. I love you guys!!! I will hopefully have photos to share with my blogger community before the end of the week, but right now I am going to bed. Good night.

Hele mei hoohiwahiwako maua la male'ana

Ho' olaule' a means celebrate in Hawaiian. I bet you are thinking what does the title phrase mean. It means , "Come celebrate our wedding day." We are planning a luau, feast, for our engagement party. The Broomjumpinggroom and I usually have a 4th of July party and have decided to make it a two for one. We are cheap and why fed people twice, when we have other things to take care of for the wedding. I recently finished our invitations for the party and they are ready to go into the mail tomorrow.

They started like this......and ended like this.

(inside)

(outside)

Now, all I need to do is plan for the party and turn our back yard into a Hawaiian paradise. I have already told some people about the party who usually attend our 4th of July bash. I have asked each guest to wear their Hawaiian attire to make the luau a little more festive. I am sure my ku'uipo (sweetheart) and I will have a great ho' olaule'a (celebration) with all of our friends and family.

Wow, What a Beautiful Engagement

Some of you have seen received this email about an Atlanta couple who got engaged. This slide show is a true showing of how much one person loves another and what a large role God has in their lives. I have received this email slide show several months ago and just today someone else emailed to me...and it still is just a romantic as when I first saw it. I think that this email had even reached Oprah's email box, because I believe the photographer that took the pictures of the engagement was on Oprah talking about it.

The photographer, Ross Oscar Knight, has a beautiful website with lots of photojournalist photographs. I love all the slide shows that he has of some of the weddings and the other engagements that he has photographed. The way that he takes pictures, it seems to put you right in the moment.

Looking at their engagement, makes me thing of my own proposal. I think that if my fiance' did anything like this young man did, I would think that he had changed places with an alien. He is romantic, in a romantic comedy type of way. Each proposal is special in it own special way, based off of what is special to the two people involved. You really can not compare proposals or even weddings to say one was better than someone elses, even though we try, because it special because some loved you enough to ask you to spend the rest your life with them (that's a long time). My proposal, will be something that I will hold dear to me for the rest of my life and everyday that I look down at my left hand I am reminded of it.

Please enjoy viewing this couples proposal and another proposal from Knight's website, may they give you inspiration in your relationship.

( I am so going to find that CD, so that I can have that song in my wedding)

21 Questions

Have you ever noticed that once you get the ring....you get all the of these questions? Sometimes when I am talking to someone I feel like I can hear the music from Jeopardy playing in my ear. The questions range from " How are they wedding plans going?" to " When are you guys having a baby?" I just want to say "Slow your roll, we just solidified a date.".....April 11, 2009. Sometimes I feel like that people do not see me or hear me anymore. They just want to hear about my event. Not to say I am not excited..I waited to damn long for this. It is just sometimes I think that they are more excited than me.

13 months to go!!!

I have 13 months to go until I get married. I got engaged on December 26, 2008, after a less than exciting Christmas. On Christmas with all my family and friends around we were exchanging gifts, as we got to the end, I began to wonder were was my gift from Chuck (my then boyfriend). I just figured that since he was a private person that he would give me my gift once everyone left our house for the evening. I went and began to wash some dishes from dessert, Chuck came up behind me with some paperwork. I looked up and he began to talk to me about that he was going to give me my ring this Christmas but the jewelry store sold my ring to someone else. It all became a blur, as looked at the paperwork with nothing shiny next to it. Before I knew it, curse words were flying out of my mouth and I was tell him to get out my face. As he walked away saying sorry, I did not know that he had told all my friends and family what he was doing and they were laughing in our living room.
At 3:00 am, Chuck came into our bedroom yelling and screaming about a mess or something downstairs. I was still half a sleep, trying to figure out what he was saying as I fumbled for my glasses so I could see. When I finally got my glasses on and got out of bed, I realized that he was standing there with the ring. Of course, I was speechless and tried to play off my shock. He asked me to be his wife, I began to cry. It was not one of those cute cries, it was one of those ugly, snot rolling, losing your breath cries. Through all that I finally got out YES!!!!!! We have a mortgage together, do you think that I would not say yes? Thus...the planning begins.
