N.C. Honeymoon

I have not talked about my honeymoon. Over the next few weeks I will share some of my honeymoon pictures with you. Since my husband does not fly, we had to go somewhere that we could drive to. We went to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It took us 11 hours to drive there.

The drive was good even through the all the rain in the hills of West Virginia. We did get a little lost on the way and had to stop a hardware store to ask for directions. Note to self.. always double check Mapquest and Yahoo Maps! with an AAA trip ticket when taking a road trip. Luckily the store clerks were helpful and had the Internet to get us back on the right track.

It was not a bad drive, it gave the hubby and I time to recap about the wedding and just spend time talking. I took a couple of cat naps along the way, when I was suppose to be navigating. We took our time getting there and stopped to see some sites on the way. I started to get cranky towards the end of the drive since I was sleepy and just wanted to go to bed.

I must say that this was a very budget friendly honeymoon. We stayed in a condo on the beach and brought some amenities from home including some food and lots of personal items. The condo had a deck with a swing on it and a good view of the beach. It was very relaxing, which we needed after the wedding. The town seemed to shut down around 11:00 pm...even the gas station. I am use to everything being 24 hours where I live. It was fine with us that everything closed early since we spent alot of time on the beach and sitting on our deck.








We definitely enjoyed our stay there and are planning on going back some day, maybe even for our 1st anniversary.

Let The Grooms Eat Cake

I got my groom a special cake just for him. It really reflected him. He loves his tools and is quite handy. Lots of my guest were impressed with the cake. Not only did it look good, it tasted good. It was made of red velvet cake and it had butter cream icing under the fondant. I was impressed that I got a piece of the cake since when I brought the sample cake home, I did not get any.

The baker that make the cake, added a little personal touch to the cake, by adding my grooms initials to the top of the tool box.

As you can tell he really enjoyed the cake. He liked the cake so much that he wanted to save the tools once the cake was gone (I told you he likes his tools). I had to remind him that they were not really Craftsmen tools, but fondant molds. I am happy that he enjoyed the cake and that it added an extra "WOW" factor at our reception. I think that he really appreciated the extra little touch just for him.

Dressing the Groom

Well, it was time this past Saturday for the Broomjumpinggroom and his groomsmen to go and pick out their attire. In a previous post I talked about how my fiance and I went to a store to look at suits and the sales clerk told me that my wedding colors did not go together. Well, he went back to the store since he really liked the suits there. His groomsmen are all different shapes and sizes, so I was thinking that it would be easier to get the smaller sizes than the larger sizes...WRONG. When they got there the sales clerk ( and we think that she was the store manager), at first, she could not measure them correctly and secondly did think that she could get all the sizes like we were told when we went there the first time. The Broomjumpinggroom got so frustrated he called me to see if there was anywhere else that they could go. So super bride to the rescue. I called the other store that I went to when I was doing research on the suits, to see if they were open and they were. I let the Broomjumpinggroom know. About a half an hour later, I got a call from the Broomjumpinggroom stating that they loved the suits and why didn't I send him there in the first place. They loved the suits so much and were getting such a deal on them that some of the grooms men were thinking about ordering another suit. I guess I really do not care what they buy as long it is that brown suit that my fiance checked. I was kinda tempted to call the store to go and see the suit. I am sure that the Broomjumpinggroom pick out a fabulous suit. He does have good taste, which is evident since he is marrying me.

U and I

I think this one weekend that I really have not alot to do...well, that is a lie, I am meeting with a florist on Saturday and am helping host a baby shower on Sunday, but my evenings are free. The whole point of getting engaged is so that you marry and be with the person that you love. It does not seem like I have seen the Broomjumpinggroom much..but this weekend is date night. We have several conversations throughout the day, and I am not counting us texting each other at work as a date. We have already decided that we will try to have some sort of date night per week. It does not have to be anything extravagant, it can be as simple as having lunch together, renting a DVD, watching a TV show, having a conversation (not via text or phone) or having a night out on the town. During this time together, there is not wedding planning talk (having a hard time with this rule). I can not wait to see what we do this evening. What do you and your groom-to-be do to stay connected during the wedding planning process?

Grooms Want Cake Too!!

Groom's cakes have been around for ages. The originally a groom's cake was a standard cake that, was similar to the wedding cake, but make completely of chocolate. Traditionally, groom's knew they were getting this cake, but today more and more brides are choosing to surprise their grooms. These cakes vary from the very traditional to the very creative, reflecting everything from hobbies, jobs to sports. I am thinking of getting my Broomjumpinggroom a cake for the wedding. I am leaning towards something with his fraternity, a car or gardening on it. I just need to find someone to make it. Well...just add something else to the to do list. Tag I'm it....Oops, Not Me My Fiance is it

I was tagged by Kate to tell 5 fun facts about my broomjumpinggroom. Here is what I have for ya.

Broomjumpinggroom loves his yard. Every season when spring hits, it begins...the yard work. He spends hours pruning, digging and mowing the lawn. He tunes up the lawnmower and seeks out the best plants to plant in the flower beds. Sometimes he is out there from sun up to sun down competing with the other men in the neighborhood to have the best lawn. He is always proud of his golf course lines in the yard and wants to share them with me. He always tries to get me outside to help him. I always tell him that I will help select plants, I will drive them home, but being one with nature is not really for me. Being one with TiVo is.

Broomjumpinggroom is obsessed with his tools. He loves his tools. He has several different types of tool boxes varying from little ones, to large ones with wheels on them and one like the picture that I bought him for Christmas this past year. He has every tool imaginable (but I am sure that he can find one that he does not have). He enjoys combing the Loews and Harbor Freight adds to see what new tool he can purchase. I sometimes think that he makes up projects around the house to just go purchase a new tool. Buying tools for him is like purchasing a new pair of shoes for me.

Broomjumpinggroom loves jazz. He likes all types of jazz ( all but Kenny G, sorry Kenny). He has CD after CD of jazz songs. When we first started dating, I really did not like jazz, I thought that it was mainly sleeping music. After attending a couple of concerts with him I really enjoy listening to it now.

Broomjumpinggroom has a beautiful singing voice. ( That he does not use often) He does not like to sing in public. The first time I really heard his voice is when I went to his hometown to hear him in concert with his sisters. I believe that is the last time that I heard his sing in public. Now I get to hear his privately while he is in the kitchen, or catch a tune or two through the bathroom when he is in the shower or when we are going somewhere and a song that he really likes comes on the radio and begins to sing along. I have been trying to get him to sing to me at some point during the wedding, but the chances of him doing that about none to zilch.

Broomjumpinggroom is a grill master. Become one with the grill. It does not matter what season it is, (he has been known to grill in the snow) he will fire up the grill in a moment. Sometimes when I am sleeping and I have the window open, I smell the aroma of charcoal. This would be because he works second shift and when he gets off at 12:00 am, he is hungry and want to come home and cook something (how about a microwave). I can not complain to much because I get to enjoy the fruits of his labor for lunch and dinner the next day. He is an excellent griller. Just talking about makes me want to call him at work to see if he would fire the grill up tomorrow for dinner.

I know that Kate only asked for 5, but I have one more.

Broomjumpinggroom makes me laugh. It does not matter if we are teasing each other like 5 year olds on a playground or he telling jokes he always makes me laugh. He knows when to make me laugh when I am feeling down or when to start a funny conversation with me. I really appreciate his humor. He definitely knows how to put a smile on my face.
