Engagement Pictures

We were suppose to take our engagement pictures today, but my wedding photographer is not able to do them as scheduled. It is not like she just did not skipped out on me, she has been put on bed rest since she is due any moment now with her first baby. She was going to try to do the shoot, but I really did not want her water breaking during our session. We have rescheduled for October, since I will still be able to take them outside since it still will be nice here. Fall will be in full swing in October also, so maybe we will have some beautiful foliage in our photographs. Even if I do not get to wear the summer dress I bought for the photos, it just gives me an excuse to purchase another outfit. I much rather go through all of this now instead of around my actual wedding day.

Wedding Tip of the Week: MOB and MOG

When thinking of your bridal party you can not forget your MOB (mother of the bride) or future mother-in-law MOG (mother of the groom) and what they are going to wear. My mom picked out a dress that I really did not like. It was not blingy enough for me. I wanted her to be just as beautiful, if not more as me. My mom and I did find something that I really liked and was blingy enough as well, and that she felt pretty in and comfortable in. It is also something that she can wear again to church. When I went to Detroit this past summer, I found my mom some pretty silver shoes with rhinestones on them that match her suit for a whole $5.00. What a find. I have not found anything for broomjumpinggroom MOG. We will hopefully find something for her before the end of the year. When picking out the the gown for your MOB or MOG, here is a few things to remember....

  • Communication is key-- Talk to your MOB or MOG and let her know your vision for the wedding. Get an understanding for what she likes and find away to make it work for both of you. Make sure that both ladies have a distinctive look of their own and not a carbon copy of the other.

  • Get going-- Shop early to look at and try on different styles of dresses.

  • Make a match--Look at the your bridal party and your dress to see what style your MOB or MOG needs get.

  • Find a hue-- Make sure that you assist your MOB or MOG in picking the right color for the bridal party and for her skin tone.

Some of the gowns below are the some of the styles that I like for a MOB or MOG. Check out The Knot for some more.

Has your MOB or MOG gotten their wedding outfits yet? How were they picked out?

Flashback

I know that this is a wedding blog, but I am digressing. The new series of 90210 has started. I am a fan of the old series and watched it up until the show went off the air in the early 90's. I watched the new series and I might give it a try, since tonight was the first night. It has some of the same sexiness and cattiness as the old one. I am hoping that some of the old characters show up, since they already have Kelly and Brenda back on the show. Well I will see how I feel as the weeks progress if I enjoy it just as much as the old series. Did you watch it? If so what do you think?
PS: The old series comes on nightly on Soap Network. Check your local listings for times.

Recent Purchases

I have picked up a few things for the wedding over the last few weeks....take a look!! I got these square aqua colored gems at my local Dollar Tree. Yep, they were only a dollar. I bought 20 bags. I have my mom on the look out for some more at the Dollar Tree near her. I think about 20 more bags will do. I think that I am going to mix them with clear gems for my centerpieces.

For my wedding I wanted to have a variation of vases for centerpieces at the reception. I think that it would make the environment more interesting. I had been looking all over for these vases. First I would find the shorter ones at stores like Jo-Ann's and Michael's, but they would be two small. I found the shorter vases at a store called the Flower Factory. It is kinda like a Sam's Club for crafts. You had to have a membership to able to get in there, but there was one catch..you had to have a vendors license to get one. One day my mom was driving past and saw a sign that individual memberships were available for a limited time. You know what I did on my lunch hour...I went and got a membership. After I got my membership, I found them. I believe I paid $1.75 a piece for 15 of them.
The taller vases I had found in other stores as well, but I had refused to pay $10-$12.00 a piece for them. Well, thanks to the Budget Savvy Bride, I was on the Bride to Bride Boutique and located these vases from another bride who no longer wants them. I am getting 21 of them from her for $5.00 a piece. What a deal. If you have not been on the site, you must go.
Other items that I recently purchased are a ring pillow that I bought at the Dollar Store and am going to cover with some aqua satin that I got off the clearance rack at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Plus when I bought the fabric, I had a 40% off coupon so it made it an even better deal.
I am slowly but surely moving along with projects for my wedding. Have you purchased anything lately?
