Create A Dress

The toilet paper wedding is always a crowd favorite at any bridal shower. At mine it was not except. It was funny watching the teams compete to make the perfect dress. Each team had their own style and technique on designing their wedding dress.

(A)
(B)
The teams worked very hard on the dress. The only thing I did not like about the game is he waste of all that toilet paper. Hey, that stuff is expensive and we do not need anything else in our landfills. Neither dress looked like something that I would wear, but had to choose one. Out of above pictures of the finish products...which team do you think won? A or B? I will let you know who I picked next Friday.

Attendant Gifts

We wanted to give our attendants gifts items that they could use again and would remind them of our wedding. Here is what we did.

Bridesmaids,Hostesses and Flower Girl
  • Bags--My mom found a great deal on these bags months before the wedding. There were regularly $3.00 a piece. When my mom found them they were $.50,even better they were in my wedding colors. My mom bought every one that was there, so I gave them to all of my hostess, bridesmaids and flower girl.
  • Flip flops-- I decorated flip flops for the bridesmaids and flower girl to wear at the reception. In some of the photos that I will post later about the wedding you will see that they were definitely wore to dance the night away. Need help with flip flops for your bridesmaids, let me know.
  • Jewelry--Bought on eBay for a really great price. I had talked about in a previous post. My bridesmaids and flower really loved it. I initially did not want my bridesmaids that were wearing halters to wear the necklace that I got them, but after I saw how nice it looked I let them wear it.
  • Other items I got from the Dollar Spot at Micheal's Craft Store. I purchased notebooks and bookmarks with their initials on it and placed it each of their bags.
  • Mirrors--I purchased mirrors for my hostess. I found them for $.75 a piece. Here is where I found them.
Groomsmen, Ring Bearer and Ushers
  • Groomsmen-- What else, but customize shot glasses with each of their names on them. Here is where I found them. They were cost effective and were shipped really quickly. I kinda of order them kinda of late, but was happy that they arrived the morning of my rehearsal dinner. We also gave them their ties to where at the wedding. I found all the men's ties on eBay.
  • Ring Bearer and Ushers--Since there were children we gave them their ties and Easter baskets since I did get married the day before Easter.
Everyone seemed to love their gift. I am glad that we could give them something that they enjoyed.

April 9 or April 11?

I went to our probate court website yesterday so that I could obtain an abstract. In not sure how it is done on every state, but where I live you need an abstract of your marriage license, so that you can change your name on all paperwork, such as social security card, drivers license etc. When I went to apply on line to obtain the abstract, I noticed that the date listed on the website was that I was married on April 9, 2009. The first thing that came to mind was that it was a typo. I called the probate court to find out how to get that changed. When I spoke to the clerk at the probate court she stated that, " I just looked at you application for your abstract and wondered if you knew when you got married." She laughed when she said it. I did not think that it was funny and wanted to say some choice words. She said after she got through laughing, she said that the minister that married us mailed the license back in with the April 9, 2009 date. She stated that all I need to do was to have the minister that married us write a letter so that I can get the date can be changed. One more thing that I need to take care...but it is going to be an easy fix.

DIY: Monogrammed Aisle Runner

Of course since I was monogram obsessed ( which several of my wedding guest were very impressed how every thing had the monogram on it) I wanted a monogram on my aisle runner. Here is what you need:
  • aisle runner
  • paint
  • design
  • time

I have had my design of my monogram for sometime. I took my design to Staples to have them blow it up poster size. To save money, make sure that when getting it blown up have them do it in black and white. My copy person accidentally made the my copy in color..but since it was not what I ordered, I got it for a black and white price, which was $4.99.

Place the design under the aisle runner and trace it. This is one of the time consuming parts of this process. Make sure you use a steady hand and do not press to hard through the aisle runner because you can rip through the aisle runner. Once the design is traced, it is time to paint.

Make sure that you have something under your runner while you are painting, so that you do not also paint what is underneath. This can take time as well.

Make sure where ever you are painting it aisle runner can stay there a day or so to ensure that the paint is totally dry so that when you roll it back up for transport you do not have paint on other parts of the runner that you do not want paint on.
To finish off my aisle runner, I added rhinestones to the curly loops of the D, C and J which added extra sparkle. I also added some brown satin ribbon on the end of the runner for another touch. Since I have time on my hands and if you want some help with your runner contact me for pricing.

Wedding Post-Pardum

(Picture from the beach from my honeymoon)

Well, I am back from my lovely wedding and my relaxing honeymoon. Now that I am back...I am kinda like what am I to do now. My life for the last year and a half has been wedding planning. My husband, ha ha husband, stated that I am grieving, I think that I that he is right. Do not gt me wrong I am happy to be the new Mrs. J, but there is a sense of loss. To keep myself busy before I return to work is reorganize my house...oops, our home with all of the lovely gifts that we received from the wedding, but that gets boring after while. I am sure that I will busy with organizing for a while since I have not gotten all the stuff back from the wedding yet. My mom and a friend of mine has to still bring some things over for me to store. So brides...remember you store the stuff before the wedding and after the wedding.

I have had some ideas on what I can do after the wedding, which is wedding planning for others. I have had some many people come up to me at the wedding stating that there were so many unique ideas and things ran so smoothly. I have been wanting to do this for sometime, have a partner and a name for the company. I will update you more on that later.

The next few posting I will talk about my wedding and the honeymoon. Stay posted!!!!
