My Arms Feel Like Spaghetti

Well, I did it. I started the 100 Push-Up Challenge. My arms are throbbing and I just did the initial test. On Wednesday, I will be starting the first day of week one. The author of the challenge suggest that you should skip a day in between to allow your arms to rest. No kidding, I need the rest, my arms hurt so much, I can barely lift my arms to move my hands to type this post. I hope the author of this challenge is right and it gets easier. Check back with me on Thursday and I will let you know how easy it got.

All Arms on Deck

All arms up...well not for that long, my arms are tired. When I was reading one of my daily reads Kate's Wedding and she had on there about the One Hundred Push Up challenge. I know that my arms are one area that I need to work on and have been told by several people that I need to do push ups to get my arms in shape for the wedding. I did them one day, but I only did 20....ok,ok, really I only did 5. How pitiful. So Kate, here is a shout out to you. I am up to the challenge, because if I do not do it, I will be flapping all the way down the aisle. Are you up to the challenge?

Black and White All Over

Black and white are such classic colors. These colors are usually accents for other bridal colors, but look just as great together.

Think Pink

Pink is a pretty color. I think that it is soft and flowing. I love the recent color combinations, like pink and brown. The pink candy photo looks yummy and I like the variation of shades of pink in the glass. Of course I love the shoes.

Let The Music Play

Well, I have thought about it. I know some people think that favors are stupid, but I think that they are one the best things to get at a wedding. It allows you to remember, that persons special day. Some of the best favors that I have received are bookmarks and CD. I think that I am going to make a CD for my wedding, since the Broomjumpinggroom and myself love music. I am having a hard time in selecting what songs to put on the CD. Here are some of the songs that I am considering:

I think I could go on and on, but I am sure there are some songs I have not heard in years that I would like to put on the CD as well. I think that I am going to email my bridal party and ask them their favorite slow jams. What are yours? Share and reply to this post.

Purple Inspiration

Purple is a pretty color. There are so many different variations of the color. Purple can be vibrant and mellow all at the same time. It definitely adds a punch, especially when paired with other colors. I really love the shoes on this inspiration board. I think that the heels would be perfect for the bride and the low ones with the stones on them would be good for bridesmaids.

Something Blue

To continue my color week...which has gone on longer than a week since I went out of town and was not able to blog, is the color blue. Blue can be used in a theme wedding, like nautical or beach theme, and as an accent color. The color blue seems to create a relaxed and casual atmosphere. My favorite pictures are the ones with the monograms. I really like how the bride tied everything together.

It's Not Easy Being Green

It is easy being green, when using green as a theme color for your wedding. There are so many different shades of green out there, it allows for couples to pick one shade as a theme or use a combination of greens. The color green is used alot in spring or summer weddings or during ceremonies that take place during the Christmas holiday.

Mellow Yellow...Makes a Happy Fellow

Well it may not make your fella happy, but it definitely would make a bride happy with this perky color. Yellow seems to just liven the place up and make everyone happy. I really like the picture of the rose balls, which I am using somewhere in my wedding but with another flower. I also like the picture of the rings in all the different sizes of candy. For all you brides who are using yellow, how are you using it in your wedding?

Orange inspiration

I would never had thought of orange of being a wedding color. It definitely adds a punch of boldness to the ceremony and the reception. It is beautiful with neutrals, I especially like it with tan. This color is definitely for a bride who wants to make a statement.

Congrats Rachel!!

On Friday, a couple of friends and I celebrated Rachel's impending marriage. We took her out to dinner and gave her a mini-bridal shower. She is getting married on August 8, 2008 ( Which is a lucky day in Asian culture. Her hubby to be is asian and requested the date.) in her destination wedding in Mexico. Since she was having a beach wedding, I made her a pair of flip-flops to wear with her gown. She was so excited about getting her flip-flops. I guess now it makes since to her why I was asking what her dress looked like. Congrats Rachel!! I can not wait to see the pictures from her beach wedding and to celebrate with her at her reception that she is having when she gets back.

What a cool tattoo!! It looks good with her flip-flop.

Since I have received some inquires about the flip-flops I have opened my own Esty store. Click here to check out The Flip Flop Fairy.

I Thee Wed in Red

Red is not in my wedding color scheme, but since I have been researching wedding items, I have come across some beautiful inspirational weddings in other colors. This week I will be posting about the inspirations that I have found. I hope that it helps and maybe even inspires you.

I Have Been Tagged...Again

Well, ladies I have been tagged by Jennifer . Her rules are that you have to make your own six word memoir title. The rules are as follows:
  • Write title of your own memoir in 6 words.
  • Post it to your blog.
  • Link the person who tagged you.
  • Tag 5 more people.

Sometimes I think this game is more work that when we were kids running around chasing one another. Well, then again I think I rather use my mind and wit and exercise by fingers instead of running around trying to hit someone.

Well, here goes my title:

"Still Standing; In Her Flip-Flops"

When I thought about this title, I kinda chuckled to myself. I thought about all the things that I can do in favorite shoe the flip flop. I can argue in a business meeting, walk several miles, clean my house, wash my car and so much more. Flip-flops are bendable and colorful, thus they can be cleaned up and stylish...kinda like me. When life gets me dirty I can always clean up my stylish self, like you can do with flips flops and still be standing. They are versatile like my personality and my wardrobe.

I am going to tag, Kate, Budget Savvy Bride, Introverted Bride, The Bona Fide Preppy Bride, and Tayia.

274 Day to go!!!

Wait one minute....I just got engaged. Well, no there was snow on the ground and the flowers are now blooming. Where has the time gone? When I first started planning I thought I was moving to fast and time was moving slow, now it seems like I am moving slow and time has sped up. To keep to my timeline I need to get the following done in the thirty days...

  • Put engagement in the paper - Well I still have not done this since we will not take our engagement pictures until September.

  • Finalize guest list--This is a rotating list. People come and people go off it. I am sure I will have a final list by September.

  • Sign a contract with caterer.--I am currently stalking my cater (he is a friend of the family) for a contact and his proposed menu based off what I emailed him what I wanted.

  • Set up appointments with florist.--I am kinda done with this. I have spoken with the lady that is doing my reception and wedding decor. I just need to speak to someone about my wedding bouquet.

  • Book a DJ.--On the list to complete this week.

  • Start looking at gift registries.--I do not need to do this I am only scanning one thing..A red Kitchenaide mixer. Oh ,I guess I should allow the Broomjumpinggroom to register for things that he wants. I guess that is a part of that partnership thing, huh.

  • Start speaking with ceremony musicians.-- I just need to find the CD of the song that I want and I need to speak to the Broomjumpinggroom's sisters about singing during the ceremony. How many songs do you need in the ceremony anyway?

  • Think about how to wear you hair.--Right now since, my hair is still growing out...all I can think about is how much weave I will have in my head and how much time I am going to use on my honeymoon taking it out.

  • Look for a baker.--I am all over it. I have several calls out to set up cake tasting and pricing meetings.

  • Reserve photographer and videographer.--Check, DONE!! I have had my photographer for months and my best friends husband is done the videography.

So out of 184 to do's. I have 28 done. I have a long way to go and not alot of time to get it all done. Keep you posted on my progress.

Deal or No Deal...I Got a Deal !

What did we do before the Internet and the dollar store? I do not know...but I love the Dollar Tree and Ebay. I always find good stuff when I either go into the store or I am shopping for bargains on the Internet. Here are some of my latest finds. I got these candles for my the unity candle holder. I bought for my mom and my future mother-in-law and of course one for myself and the Broomjumpinggroom to use during the ceremony. There were a whole $1.00 for all 4.
I thought these were a great deal. If you are using silk flowers in your ceremony or anywhere in your decor, I would definitely check out your local dollar store. I bought 14 packages ( I think I got enough) of these white silk rose petals that have 300 count per package to put into petal cones for guest to throw at Broomjumpinggroom and I when we walk down the aisle after we are pronounced as husband and wife. They were $1.00 per bag.

You can not see me, but I am doing the happy dance. I have been bidding for months for a unity candle holder and have been losing. Until a few weeks ago, I won this baby for the low, low price of $7.00 plus shipping. It is brand new. Go Dana!!
I need to keep finding deals like these, to keep wedding cost low and my pockets a little full. I do not want to end up like one of those brides on Rich Bride, Poor Bride or on Wedding SOS trying to figure out where all the money for the wedding went. What cost cutting ideas are you using?

Grooms Want Cake Too!!

Groom's cakes have been around for ages. The originally a groom's cake was a standard cake that, was similar to the wedding cake, but make completely of chocolate. Traditionally, groom's knew they were getting this cake, but today more and more brides are choosing to surprise their grooms. These cakes vary from the very traditional to the very creative, reflecting everything from hobbies, jobs to sports. I am thinking of getting my Broomjumpinggroom a cake for the wedding. I am leaning towards something with his fraternity, a car or gardening on it. I just need to find someone to make it. Well...just add something else to the to do list. Are you getting your groom a groom's cake?

Aqua and Brown Cakes

I have recently been talking alot about what type of cake that I want for my wedding. It has been suggested to me that I book a baker soon since I am having my wedding during a holiday weekend. I am currently contacting bakers that either my friends or co-workers have used for their weddings to set-up cake tastings. I have a favorite bakery by the name or Reesch, but I do not know if I will be able to afford them. I want my cake to have a few flavors, like butter, red velvet, chocolate and carrot cake. I do not want fondant on my cake and would prefer a really good butter cream icing to be used. These photos are some of inspiration of the direction that I want my cake to look like. I really want it to incorporate both of my wedding colors. I will keep you posted on what the final cake will look and taste like. Which cake do you like the best? What does or will your wedding cake look like?

Red, White and Snooze

I am so tired and I do not know why since I took a nap today for 3 hours outside in our gazebo. The Broomjumpinggroom and I had our engagement party yesterday. It was sooooooo much fun!! Our friends really came out to celebrate our engagement, even though we have been engaged since December. Having fun comes at a price...my beauty rest. I did get 7 hours of sleep last night but I guess sitting outside in the beautiful sun (because we had great weather) and being the hostess with the "mostess" really wore me out. I really appreciate all of our friends bringing great food and drinks to help us celebrate. At times like this you really know who cares for you and who will journey with you in the next phase of your life. I love you guys!!! I will hopefully have photos to share with my blogger community before the end of the week, but right now I am going to bed. Good night.

I Do: Red, White and Blue

Many couples choose to have their special day on a holiday, like Christmas or Valentine's Day. I did not think that the 4th of July would be a popular one for couples to get married on. There are many couples who choose to use this holiday due to that it is a summer holiday and that it also usually falls around a 3 day weekend. There are several resources, from bridal dresses to cakes, out there for brides who want to do red, white and blue and I do. Congratulations to all of those brides who are getting married this 4th of July. For those brides who are planning a 4th July wedding for next year, above are some photos that might help you get started. Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July.
