Internet Invitations

My broomjumpinggroom and I are both involved with our fraternity and sorority. There are several people in each of our graduate chapters that we wanted to invite to the wedding, but did not want to incur the additional expense of invitations and postage. Several of my other sorors, sorority sisters, have gotten married in the past and have sent an email tothe chapter asking for RSVP's. I have used Internet invitations in the past and thought why not use them this time. Evite is an Internet site that has several different of invitations, from bridal showers to weddings and everything in between. When you using this site you can customize your invitation, add all the information that you need your guest to know, see when your guest open the invitation and what their response is. I have gotten a good response out of this and I think that it a good way to cut cost, if your guest have Internet access.

RSVP's

The RSVPs have started to arrive. Most of the people have been stating that they will be attending the wedding. It is making it more and more real and exciting. I have received some strange responses, like one that was returned with just a pencil check mark and no name. I have decided that persons will be able to attend the wedding and when the it is time for the reception that will have to check in at the hostesses station to ensure that they have RSVP'd. I am going to allow the persons that have RSVP'd go to their assigned table first and ask persons who have not to step aside until accommodations can be made for them. I have several hostess who are tactful, but firm, who will be able to handle this, with care. What are you doing about your non-RSVP'd guest? Are you accommodating all of them or are you making other arrangements?

Invitations

Over the past week I have been creating my wedding invitation. I had spoke in previous postings I talked about purchasing them. The invitations had 50 invitations and 50 RSVP cards along with envelopes. Each box was $8.99. The invitations are cream with a raised floral design on the side. I used the font English for our names and used Copperlight for the rest of the invitation. I placed our monogram that is going to be used throughout the wedding, on the top of the invitation. It took a whole evening to figure out how I wanted the invitation to be formatted, but once I saw it on the screen I knew it was right.

On my RSVP cards that I added our monogram to as well. When I received wedding invitations in the past as so as I opened the invitation all of these little papers would fall out. I decided that I did not want my guest to go through this, so I made these cards that on one side have a listing of where we are registered and hotel accommodations. On the other side, there are directions to the ceremony site. To make these cards I bought a pack of card stock the same color as my wedding invitation for $5.99 at Staples and printed them on my computer. I formatted it so that there were 6 sets on each side of the page. I then took them to Staples to have them cut for $6.00. I tried to cut them myself, but I was just cutting them every which way but right.

The other night my MOH helped me put the invitations together. After we ate dinner, it took us about 3 hours to stuff them. Some of my invitations went out today and the rest will go out by Monday morning. It is really a finalizing experience taking your invitations to the post office. Even though I have been engaged for sometime, going to the post office today made me really realize that I am getting married in a few short weeks.

Invitation SOS

I have been looking for invitations for my wedding. I have flip flopped between making them and buying the kinda that you run through your printer. I want my invitations to be pretty, memorable and not to expensive. I guess my philosophy is that I people are going to throw them away once the wedding is over. I am asking my blogging community for help. Please post your suggestions, resources and help on this subject on this post. I will greatly appreciate it since I need to make a decision by the end of November since they need to be mailed at the end of February.

Invitations: To make or not to make, that is the question.

I have received several emails about pocket invitations. I posted a comment on roadtotheaisle.blogspot.com, when she was explaining her invitation process. I must say I was really inspired by her creativity on making her own invitations. I consider myself a "Crafty Kathy" myself and have looked into all options, well the cheapest, option for my budget. For pocketfold invitations here are a couple of resources that you can use:

  • http://www.anchorpaper.com/ This company has the right shade of Tiffany blue that I have been looking for. Actually this is the paper company that the bride to be on the road to the aisle blog used for the paper she used for her invitations. The person that I had contact with was Tom (tpeterson@anchorpaper.com). He was really helpful and responses quick to email. He can assist you with the custom cutting that you need for your invitation. The colors of paper that match the most for my wedding were Metallic Astrobright Glisten Lunar Blue and Stardream Metallic Aquamarine. I ordered samples from them. They do charge for the color sample, due the recent demand, but I feel it is totally worth it.

  • I have also checked out http://www.cardsandpocketsstore.com/. They have a variety of different types of pocketfolds. The site also shows the sizes and shape of the inserts that are needed for each of the different types of folds. They have a minimal charge for a sample pocket in the color that you want. You can also order a color swatch from them. All samples have free shipping on them, that is great for a bride on a budget.

In emailing Tom and reviewing the information that was mailed to me from Cards and Pockets, the prices were not that different from one another. You just need to decide if you want, or have time, to be crafty. I need to figure out if I feel like folding and gluing 250 pocketfolds or just have them all ready put together by someone else. If you do decided to make them yourself I would refer back to the roadtotheaisle.blogspot.com for detailed instructions on how to make them. She has photographs and step-by-step instructions. I just need to be serious with myself and think if I am really am going to have time to complete all of them plus all of the other items I need to do on for my wedding. I think that sometimes just put the to do items to the back of my mind, since I am not getting married until April of next year. I should know better since I am a part-time wedding planner and am constantly on my brides to get the things done that I need them to do.

With the pocketfolds I need to decide on which style I like the best.

I am looking at one of these two styles. I am not going to need that many inserts since I am having my wedding and my reception all in the same place. That means one set of directions and one RSVP card. Which cuts some of the cost of what I need to order and to print for each of the invitation. It might even make it a little bit lighter to mail since who knows what the USPS will do this time next year when I get ready to mail them.

On the Cards and Pockets website there were several different teal or aqua colors shown. They have Tiffany, pool and teal. When I obtained the sample from them I thought that the Tiffany color was the closest to the color that I have chosen for my wedding.

I hope that this information helps and I will keep you posted on what I really end up doing or if I find any more sites or information.
