1 Month To Go!!!

Today is the official one month mark until I wed my broomjumpinggroom. I remember when I first started planning the day seem so far away and now it is just around the corner. People keep asking me if I am excited or nervous, I am neither. I am tired. I am tired of the questions and I am tired of trying to get all the pieces together so that I can have be perfect day that I have imagined. Wedding planning is no joke and I see why people hire a wedding planner. I would not have it any other way than planning and creating the wedding that I wanted. Plus the time I have spent with my mom through this is priceless. I am sure as the date gets closer I will be filled with a flood of emotions, since I was the one bawling when I got engaged. These last few weeks until the big day, I am going to enjoy it because I plan on only doing this once.

Congratulations

I would like to congratulate one of my bridesmaids, Alena, on her engagement to her boyfriend Kenneth on 12/31/2008!!!! Welcome to the bridal club!!!!

Congrats Rachel!!

On Friday, a couple of friends and I celebrated Rachel's impending marriage. We took her out to dinner and gave her a mini-bridal shower. She is getting married on August 8, 2008 ( Which is a lucky day in Asian culture. Her hubby to be is asian and requested the date.) in her destination wedding in Mexico. Since she was having a beach wedding, I made her a pair of flip-flops to wear with her gown. She was so excited about getting her flip-flops. I guess now it makes since to her why I was asking what her dress looked like. Congrats Rachel!! I can not wait to see the pictures from her beach wedding and to celebrate with her at her reception that she is having when she gets back.

My Ma and Me

Happy Mother's Day!! This is my mom and me after church today. I love my mom so much. It has always just been me and my mom. She is an excellent mom. I am glad that now that I am older that she is not just my mom but she is also my friend. When growing up, it has always been just my mom and me. My mom and I did alot of things together, and still do, I went to her college classes with her, she was at all of my dance recitals and band concerts and she even was there as a grown adult when I got my gallbladder removed. I love my mom so much and sometimes I think that I do not tell her enough.

I really appreciate all the things that my mom has taught me, especially since I have been going through this wedding planning process. She taught me how to cook, how to clean, how to be a lady and how to be a strong woman. She has always taught me to speak my mind, I am sure she would prefer that I do not do it as often as I do, be the person that I want to be and to follow my goals.

I am very proud of my mother. She has always put me first and at time put her goals on the back burner. I was proud when my mom earned for Associates degree and I was even prouder when she earned her Bachelors degree (we graduated together). I am proud of all that she has accomplished in her life, and I hope that I continue to make her proud in all that I do.

My fiance has a daughter. We are not always on the same page (she is a teenager), but I hope that I am able to be a mom to her and any other future children, that my mom is to me. I am not sure how else to say it, but I love my mom to pieces and I will cherish her forever.

Me? Am I really 35?

I actually turned 35 on March 20th, but am celebrating all weekend with family and friends. On Friday, I went to the Cheesecake Factory with some girlfriends and sorority sisters. It was fun after I got past pouting with the restaurant manager, about him saying that we would have to wait 80 minutes to a table was ready after I was quoted 60 earlier in the day. Needless to say the pouting worked and he sat us down earlier. It was an enjoyable meal, filled with conversation, laughter and sharing new foods (some people had not eaten there before). After the dinner, we went to see Tyler Perry's new movie Meet the Browns. It was great movie, I think that I laughed the entire time. I really enjoyed myself. It is always nice to spend time with people that you really care about and love.
