DIY: Cake Topper

Just call me cheap, but I wanted a sparkly cake topper, but really did not want to pay alot a money for something that I was going to use once. I decided to make one myself.

Supplies used:

  • Paper mache J

  • Rhinestones

  • Hot glue gun/ glue sticks

  • Skewers

I used different size rhinestones to cover the J. The project is not hard, just a little time consuming. The project really did not cost much either. I purchased the paper mache J at Jo-Ann Fabrics when it was on sale for $1.99 and the box of different size rhinestones for $6.99 with a 40% coupon. I had the glue gun and sticks. Once I started the project, I realized that I was going to use the entire box of rhinestones. I had to go back to Jo-Ann Fabrics to purchase another box. Luckily, I had another 40% off coupon. When I was covering the J, I left a small area on the bottom to make a small hole, I then stuck two skewers in the hole and added additional glue to secure them in place. I think it turned out pretty well for only spending a few dollars.

That is a VERY Good idea--- I'm considering it myself now. And I could decorate it however I want!

I love it. I'm so sick of all these "wedding" items that cost 3 or 4 times more for the same "non wedding" items. It reminds me of the video on you tube
