Wedding Dresses: Oscar de la Renta

Designer for the stars, Oscar de la Renta has been designing formal and wedding gowns for years. I like how the dresses vary from sexy to chic to romantic.

Chairs

You have to have a place for your guest to sit while they witness your vows and enjoy the celebration at the reception. There are several types of chairs to choose from.

  • Chiavari--These chairs are usually gold or silver and have a bamboo design on them.

  • Dining Room--These are the standard chairs that are used at most banquet halls.

  • Resin--These chairs generally come in white or black. They are wood with a padded seat.

  • Folding Chair--We know that these are. They come in metal with a padded seat or in black or white plastic.

Which ever chair you choose there are several choices on how to decorate them. You can use chair covers, which can be a little expensive, but make the room look really nice. I know I can not afford chair covers , but I might want to use one of these ideas to dress up the chairs at my wedding.

Rachel's Wedding

A few months back I posted about my friend Rachel. I talked about her bridal shower. Today I attended her wedding. Today was the culmination of a month full of wedding fun. Rachel and Tom were married on 8-8-08 and then spent 2 weeks in Mexico and had another beautiful ceremony there. Today celebrated with their family and friends with a reception.

This is their beautiful cake. It had Asian accents along with some pretty red flowers on it.

Instead of having a traditional guest book, Rachel had a piece of fabric and Sharpe markers for guest to put their well wishes on. While guest signed the fabric, they couple view the pictures and a slide show from their trip to Mexico.

The good old garter toss. Tom come out, come out where ever you are.

Here is my friend Ben, waiting for the garter toss. He really was not interested. He was more interested in the disco lights on the floor.

Ben and his mom.

Ben and I.

Rachel and Tom cutting the yummy cake. It was so good and lemony.

A great kiss during the first dance.

Rachel's wedding had an Asian theme with the red lanterns, chopsticks and these great favors. These Chinese food boxes were filled with yummy buckeyes. Tom and Rachel are Ohio State Buckeye fans..which was apparent when Tom came in when they were introduced and he yelled "OH" and the crowd yelled back "IO"

The father/daughter dance. They laughed the whole time they were on the floor. Oh look, the back of my photographers head. Thus that is why she is a photographer and not me.

It was a beautiful and fun wedding. Congratulations Rachel and Tom.

I Am A Slacker

Well...I have not been doing that well with the 100 Push-Up Challenge. As I started week three, I just got lazy. I think that part of it is that my gym was closed for a week for remodeling. Well, I am reenergized since I read the post on the Excited Bride about her doing her 50 push-ups a day and the pictures showing how great she looks. I started redoing week three and I struggled yesterday. I will wrap up week three on Sunday. Wish me luck. How are the rest of you pushers doing?

PS: My arms will definitely get some exercise this weekend, because the broomjumpinggroom and I am are doing some painting around the home this weekend. I guess they do not call it Labor Day for nothing.

Wedding Traditions: Chinese Wedding Traditions

There are many wedding traditions for persons of Chinese descent. One of the traditions is a tea ceremony. The tea ceremony takes place right after the wedding ceremony, but some couples are choosing to do this during different times in their wedding depending upon the how private or public the couple wants the ceremony to be. The parents of the bride and groom are seated and the bride and groom are kneeling in front of them. The bride serves her father-in-law and father. The groom serves his mother-in-law and mother. There is not standard tea served, but some of the standard choices are green tea and orange blossom tea.

If doing a Chinese Tea Ceremony..here are a few items that you will need:

  • Tea

  • Cups

  • Double happiness symbol

  • Chinese marriage dragon gods

  • Gold and red colors

  • An altar to display ancestral pictures

  • White flowers

  • Offertory wine

  • Incense
  • Candles

If having a public ceremony, you will need someone to have someone explaining the ceremony if you choose to have a public ceremony. If interested in more information about Chinese wedding traditions or more explanation of this ceremony..click here.
